West African Research Association Residency Fellowship 2022
The West African Research Association Residency Fellowship: The West African Research Association announces residency positions for WARA member institutions to host a scholar or researcher on their campus.
With funding support from the US Department of Education’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
The visiting scholar or researcher will have the opportunity to do library research, guest lecture, and collaborate with American colleagues throughout their stay.
Residents are short-term exchange programs, not intended to replace academic seats, so applicants should keep that in mind.

West African Research Association Residency Fellowship Requirements
Applicants must satisfy the following requirements to be considered for the West African Research Association Residency Fellowship:
- Applicants must be West African researchers who are interested in participating in the WARA Residency Fellowship program.
- Applicants must be willing to travel outside of their native nation to any WARA host institution.
- Those who qualify for non-immigrant visas in the United States will be considered.
- Applicants must have suitable qualifications in the subject of study in which their fellowship will be awarded, as well as outstanding leadership abilities.
- Applicants must show their ability to assist the West African Research Association’s aims.

Application for West African Research Association Residency Fellowship
How to Apply: Interested candidates for the WARA Residency Fellowship must submit an online application that includes the following requirements:
- Representative of the WARA host institution’s name and contact details.
- An abstract of the proposed residence in the range of 50-80 words, clearly outlining the residency’s goal.
- A proposal of no more than six (6) double-spaced pages describing the visiting scholar, his or her planned residency activities, how the residency activities would contribute to WARA’s aims, the residency’s projected effect or result, and the assistance that the host institution is willing to provide.
- The visiting scholar’s curriculum vitae and a letter of interest from the scholar.
- A letter of recommendation from a senior administrator at the host school, such as the dean or department head.
- Applicants must supply a copy of the scholar’s passport as evidence of citizenship.
