The UNDP Africa YouthConnekt Sahel Forum: Sahel Innovate Challenge 2021 is now accepting applications.

They’re looking for 20 remarkable Sahelian youngsters who will be given the chance to propose their creative ideas to a panel of judges at the YouthConnekt Sahel Forum.

The Sahel Innovate Challenge is a flagship program of the YouthConnekt Sahel Forum, which aims to promote and highlight the creativity and resilience of young Sahelians who are driving the region’s change.

It promotes a link between the area and creativity and innovation, as opposed to the over-emphasized war and poverty-stricken narrative.

Selected applicants will receive:

  • A chance to propose their proposal to a panel of judges and business experts.
  • Participation in the forum is fully supported.

Eligibility

You are eligible if you:

  • Are you 35 years old or younger?
  • In any of the following challenge tracks, have a verifiable and tested creative solution (including the number of persons affected) in the Sahel region:
  • Digital Transformation
  • COVID-19 Response and Recovery
  • Health
  • Education
  • Peace and Security
  • Cultural and Creative Arts
  • Agroforestry
  • Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation

Are you a citizen of one of the UNISS Sahel nations and presently live there? (Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, The Gambia, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, and Senegal).

Application for UNDP Africa YouthConnekt

Record a video describing yourself, your solution, and its effect in the Sahel area in fewer than 120 seconds (2 minutes).

Instructions for the Video

  • It should be shot in “landscape/widescreen” mode.
  • Provide an introduction of yourself – name, nationality and age.
  • Provide an introduction of your innovative solution – description and impact so far (including the number of people impacted).
