UN Scholarships Grants Other Programmes

The following are the current United Nations scholarships, grants, and other programs for the application rounds of 2022/2023.

Berkeley Law School LDC Fellowships

The LDC Scholarship is provided to qualifying students enrolled in the University of California Berkeley School of Law’s LL.M. professional track program.

Students who are citizens and main residents of one of the LDCs are eligible for the prize, which is a US$20,000 tuition credit.

It is giving the chance to concentrate on Business Law and receive a Certificate in Business Law.

Scholarships have been given to students from Haiti, Nepal, Liberia, Malawi, Bangladesh, Uganda, Sierra Leone, and Myanmar, among other LDCs.

The IPCC Scholarship Programme

The IPCC Scholarship Program’s goal is to help developing nations improve their knowledge and control of climate change by allowing young scientists from such countries to participate in investigations that would not be feasible without the Fund’s help.

OWSD fellowship for female students from LDCs

Organization for Women for Science for the Developing World (OWSD) has established a fellowship program for female students from Sub-Saharan Africa and LDCs who wish to pursue postgraduate training leading to a Ph.D. at centers of excellence in developing countries outside their own country, thanks to funds provided by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SISA).

UNESCO/Republic of Korea Co-Sponsored Fellowships Programme

The Government of the Republic of Korea awards 25 fellowships of no more than two months each year, in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding signed by UNESCO and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

These fellowships, which are aimed at boosting human resources and national capacity-building in LDCs in Africa, Asia, and the Pacific, allow applicants to do research or attend a training course in the Republic of Korea.

UNITAR Fellowships for Diplomatic Training

Nationals of LDCs may apply for scholarships to participate in the Multilateral Diplomacy Program’s e-learning courses.

Each course has a limited number of scholarships, which are given based on “experience and career relevance in the international diplomacy sector, suitable academic background, and degree of personal desire.”

IELPO Scholarship Programme

Scholarships for the University of Barcelona’s Master of Laws in International Economic Law and Policy are provided to nationals of LDCs and other developing nations (IELPO LL.M.).

Ten awardees came from LDCs between 2008 and 2018.

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Research Programme

offers universities and research groups in LDCs the chance to form long-term partnerships with TWAS members to aid with research and advanced training, therefore assisting in the development of local scientific capabilities.

TWAS Members are assigned to institutions in LDCs for a duration of five years, during which time they will visit the host institution three times for a minimum stay of one month each time.

  • Applicants must be citizens of countries that are qualified for the scholarship program they are applying for.
  • Applicants must have completed the prerequisite educational requirements for their chosen program of study.
  • Candidates with strong academic records will have a better chance of being chosen.
  • For some of the programs, evidence of poor financial ability may be needed.
  • Fluency in the program’s language will be necessary.
