UBA Foundation National Essay Competition 2024 – N6m Prize

UBA Foundation National Essay Competition 2022 is an essay competition program for Nigerian secondary school students.

The United Bank of Africa (UBA) through its foundation started accepting entries for the 2022 National Essay Competition.

However, it’s a competition open only for Senior Secondary school students in Nigeria.

It Grand prize is N2.5 million, the second runner-up will win N2 million while the third runner-up will receive N1.5 million.

UBA Foundation, the CSR arm of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, announces the commencement of the 2022 edition.

However, the National Essay Competition (NEC) for senior secondary school students in Nigeria entries is open.

Moreover, this competition is been hosted for 10 years now with different secondary school participants.

This has also been a competitive platform for student to showcase their talent and develop more intellectually.

More focus and empathy are also drawn to the writing ability and fast thinking during the competition.

At the end of the competition, successful winners get educational grants to study in any African University of their choice.

Nevertheless, the UBA Foundation National Essay Competition comes will different topics for each year.

This year, it’s totally different from other years and we expect something from participants.

Eligibility Requirement for the UBA Foundation National Essay Competition 2022.

Here is the eligibility requirement for any secondary school students who want to participate in the UBA Foundation National Essay Competition 2022.

  • You must be secondary school students in Nigeria
  • Have applied online and submitted a handwritten essay.
  • Must submit a passport photograph
  • Must submit a copy of a birth certificate.
  • Attach a scanned copy of your National ID or passport.

UBA Foundation National Essay Topics

Here is the 2022 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition topic for any participants.

  • “Do you think that the lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic was an essential measure in spite of the hardship it brought economically? What would you have done differently and why?”

Remember, a handwritten copy of this essay must be scanned and submitted online or sent directly through the post office to the UBA foundation.

However, the UBA Foundation has not stated the minimum or maximum words for participants.

Perhaps, participants need to take good note of this, the judges of the essay competition are made up of professors from reputable Nigerian Universities.

How Will The UBA Foundation Select winners?

There are “two-stage” where the winners will emerge from the panel of judges’ selection process.

  • The first stage know as “stage 1” will be:

Entries received for the completion will be reviewed by a distinguished panel of judges.

These judges are made up of professors from reputable Nigerian Universities, who will then shortlist 12 essays for further assessment.

If you are selected from stage one, then you are among the finalist for the second stage selection process.

The second stage which is known as “Stage 2” will be:

Three (3) competitors will be selected out of the 12 finalists from stage one.

These three (3) competitors will therefore win the cash prize from the first runner up through third.

  • Grand Winner Prize: N2.5 million educational grant.

How to Apply for the UBA Foundation National Essay Competition 2022.

To apply for the UBA Foundation National Essay Competition, each participant must first submit bio information.

You are expected to attach photocopies of your original birth certificates or international passport data page.

You can submit it to the nearest UBA bank in Nigeria which will then be onward delivered to UBA Foundation.

The deadline for submission of entries for the UBA Foundation Essay Competition is 2nd October.
