Mentoring from renowned academics and artists, as well as guest lectures from art professionals, are available to encourage contemplation on more egalitarian, inclusive, and sustainable approaches.

The Terra Foundation supports intellectual and creative initiatives that question and widen conceptions of American art, as well as efforts that change or complicate how the narrative of American art is conveyed.

They encourage projects that reflect a commitment to inclusive and equitable research and creative practice, generate new scholarship and interpretive frameworks, use critical methodologies and innovative models, and/or engage diverse partners and audiences in order to expand the histories of American art.

They foster interest in and initiatives that allow for cross-cultural conversation because of the program’s international and multidisciplinary orientation.
