Stephen Schwarzman Scholarship for Graduate Students in China 2023

The Stephen A. Schwarzman Scholars Program has announced its graduate scholarship opportunities for 2023, which will be held at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.

Schwarzman Scholars are chosen from a pool of outstanding individuals from throughout the world. Academic proficiency, extraordinary accomplishments in their discipline, and great leadership characteristics are sought by prospective scholars.

Worth of Scholarship

  • Students will have access to a wide variety of cultural and intellectual opportunities throughout their stay, including travel to all regions of China, interactions with global leaders, and mentoring with specialists in their chosen field.
  • They’ll also spend the year immersed in the local economic and social life, with a summer orientation providing time to study Chinese, tour Beijing, and meet other students and professors before courses begin.

Stephen Schwarzman Scholarship | Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who are most suited to satisfy the Stephen Schwarzman Scholarship for Graduate Students’ rigorous standards must succeed in the following areas:

  • Leadership Abilities
  • Exemplary character and integrity
  • Academic aptitude and intellectual ability
  • Empathy and intellectual competency
  • Open-mindedness
  • Entrepreneurial spirit

Candidates must satisfy the following requirements in addition to exhibiting exceptional leadership qualities, the ability to predict and act on trends and changes in their context, excellent intellectual capability, and outstanding character:

  • Applicants must be enrolled in undergraduate degree programs and on pace to finish all degree requirements by August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year. There are no qualifications for a particular area of undergraduate study; all disciplines are eligible. However, candidates must describe how involvement in Schwarzman Scholars would help them develop their leadership potential within their field, independent of their undergraduate major.
  • Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 28 as of August 1st of the year in which they participate in the Schwarzman Scholars program (for the current selection cycle, as of August 1, 2023).
  • Must be able to communicate well in English. This criterion is eliminated for students who completed at least two years of their academic program at an undergraduate institution where English was the predominant medium of instruction. Applicants who have studied English for two or more years at the Master’s degree level or above will also be exempt from the requirement.

Tsinghua University’s Stephen Schwarzman Scholarship for Graduate Students accepts the following tests.

  • English as a Foreign Language Exam (TOEFL PBT).
  • A minimum score of 600 is required. English as a Foreign Language Test on the Internet (TOEFL iBT). A minimum score of 100 is required.
  • The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a system for (IELTS). A minimum of 7 is required.

Deadline: From April 13, 2022, through September 20, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. ET, US/Global applications for the Class of 2023-2024 will be available.
