Sokoto State University (SSU) Gets a new Vice-Chancellor

The state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has selected Professor Bashir Garba of the Department of Applied Chemistry as vice-chancellor of the Sokoto State University.

Muhammad Bello, the governor’s special advisor on media and publicity, announced the appointment in a statement. The nomination was made at the suggestion of the University Joint Council and the Senate Selection Board, according to the statement.

Garba was suggested after outperforming two other applicants, Nasiru Ibrahim and Belewu Adewale, both professors, according to the announcement.

The governor also authorized the nomination of Kuluwa Nuhu as the new registrar, succeeding Amina Garba, who had previously held the position.
