For the academic year 2022/2023, Curtin University’s School of Molecular and Life Sciences will offer PhD Scholarship.

School of Molecular and Life Sciences PhD Scholarship

Three PhD student scholarships are offered at Curtin University’s School of Molecular and Life Sciences in Australia. The successful candidates will collaborate with Associate Professor Guohua Jia on his ARC Future Fellowship project (2D nanomaterial heterostructures for photocatalytic hydrogen production), ARC Discovery project (Inorganic/organic Hybrids for flexible thermoelectric generators), and The Hebrew University of Jerusalem – Zelman Cowen Academic Initiatives (ZCAI) Joint Project (Modern X-ray detectors based on 2D metal halide perovskites). Inorganic nanocrystals with regulated size, shape, and composition that are sensitive to light, heat, and x-ray are being developed for energy harvesting and storage, thermoelectric, and optoelectronic devices in these initiatives. This scholarship application will remain available until it has been filled.

Worth of Scholarship

  • The chosen applicant will be paid a stipend of around $29,000 per year.
  • The scholarship will be for three years, with the possibility of a six-month extension if the student achieves the qualifying requirements as stated in the grant criteria.
  • For the term of the grant, tuition expenses will be covered.

Requirements for the School of Molecular and Life Sciences PhD Scholarship

  • Both local and foreign students are welcome.
  • Bachelor’s degree (first-class honors or upper second-class honors) in Chemistry, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline is the minimum need.
  • IELTS 6.5 overall, speaking, writing, reading, and listening 6.0, or TOEFL 79 overall, reading 13, listening 13, speaking 18, and writing 21.
  • Applicants with Master’s or Bachelor’s degrees in chemistry, materials science, electrical devices, or related subjects, as well as scientific publications and research experience, are preferred.
