The University of Sydney invites applications for the Research Scholarship in Engineering for the 2021/2020 academic year.

Research Scholarship

The University of Sydney improves people’s lives through generating society’s leaders and training its citizens with leadership skills so that they may serve their communities at all levels.

The purpose of this fellowship is to help a Ph.D. student who is working on developing a durable and adaptable hydrogel with self-healing capabilities.

Worth of Award for Research Scholarships in Engineering

Subject to good academic achievement, this scholarship will give an annual stipend allowance comparable to the University of Sydney’s Research Training Program (RTP) stipend rate (indexed on 1 January each year) for up to three years.

ARC and the Faculty of Engineering each provide a portion of the stipend allotment.

Academic course fees are also provided for a successful international applicant, for up to twelve research periods, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

An extension of the stipend and academic course costs for up to six months may be feasible, depending on funding availability.

Eligibility for Research Scholarship in Engineering

  • Have been offered unconditional admission to the Faculty of Engineering to pursue a full-time Ph.D. program
  • Be willing to explore the development of a durable and multifunctional hydrogel with self-healing characteristics
  • Have an honours degree in polymer engineering and chemistry (first-class or second-class upper) or a related subject
  • Submit an application for an RTP scholarship.
