The OneBeat Virtual Residency Exchange Program for Musicians and Sonic Artists in 2022 is now accepting applications.

OneBeat brings together rising musical leaders from all around the globe to produce creative music together.

They’re also working to build a worldwide network of civically involved music projects.

As a result, in two different virtual residencies, OneBeat Virtual will bring together 70 artists from up to 44 nations and territories.

Each program will include a totally virtual residence and interaction with musicians from all around the world.

To that end, OneBeat Virtual Fellows will investigate new forms of virtual collaboration over the course of eight weeks, form ensembles to write, produce, and perform genre-defying work, participate in virtual masterclasses and open studios, lead online workshops, and produce a public streaming final concert.

During the Fellowship, fellows will also have the option to conduct self-directed projects.

These programs will most likely target a specific community and emphasize community involvement and participation.

As a result, OneBeat fosters the creation of initiatives that investigate advances in a specific sector of arts engagement, digital media, or technology.

Worth of Award of OneBeat Virtual Residency Exchange Program

As a fellow/participating artist, you will receive a

$1,500 USD honorarium,
per diem for online sessions, as well as
small subsidy for purchasing necessary audio equipment and enhanced internet connectivity.

Age

Applicants must be 19 or older by the time of the program (July 2021) and 35 or younger at the end of the program (November 2022).

Virtual Fellows must presently reside full-time in one of the 44 countries and territories that qualify.

Country or Territory of Origin

Applicants who haven’t had a lot of international interaction and performance chances in the US and overseas are also in demand.

English Proficiency

It is important for applicants to be able to converse in and understand basic English, as it will be the common language of the OneBeat Virtual program.

Internet & Technical Requirements

All fellows must be able to send and receive email and connect to the internet in order to engage in web-based activities.

Similarly, all OneBeat Virtual Fellows must have access to a laptop or other similar smart device (with a camera).

For you to be able to engage in the program, you must have a stable internet connection.

Very Important

It is worthy of note that musicians from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, with or without formal musical training. Music of all genres are welcome, including but not limited to:

Traditional/folk music, hip hop, experimental music, electronic music, jazz, classical music, sound design, beat-making, multimedia art, or any mix of these forms. OneBeat encourages adventurous musicians who are civic leaders, instrument builders, authors, filmmakers, musicologists, educators, storytellers, dancers, shadow puppeteers, and more, in addition to full-time professional musicians.
