Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) Du Pré Grant 2022 applications are now available.

The MSIF Du Pré Grant allows multiple sclerosis researchers and clinicians from low- and middle-income countries to go to established MS research centers outside of their own country for brief trips (up to six months).

Participants learn skills or carry out aspects of cooperative research initiatives during the visit or virtual project. This improves MS treatment and encourages collaboration in research. They want candidates to utilize their newly acquired experience and networks to continue MS research and/or clinical practice in low- and middle-income countries after receiving the grant. Visits might last anywhere from two to six months.

Grants

Each award is worth up to £6,000 GBP and may be used to pay travel and living costs or to supplement an existing grant to prolong a stay.
If virtual or local initiatives are proposed for 2022, they are more flexible on the use of money, although this must be agreed upon in the project application.

MSIF Du Pré Grant | Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

Have a postgraduate degree (at least an MSc, but ideally a Ph.D. or MD) in a field related to multiple sclerosis (MS).
Be citizens of a nation with a low or moderate-income (all countries with a low, lower-middle, or upper-middle-income as defined by the World Bank).
Concentrate their study proposal on multiple sclerosis-related topics.
In addition, candidates must be in one of the following circumstances:
At the time of nomination, you must be working or studying in a low- or medium-income country (all nations with a low, lower-middle, or higher middle income as defined by the World Bank).
Working on a project in another country that began within the six months previous to nomination.
Studying in a different country as part of a programme funded by the MS International Federation.

Note:

The applicant and the host have submitted a combined application. Candidates must have found an appropriate project and host supervisor at an institution outside of their home country prior to being nominated.

For 2022, the host may be found in the applicant’s own country or neighboring countries (if the nation’s travel rules permit it), providing there are appropriate resources (e.g. equipment, reagents…), mentoring, and the chance to develop new knowledge and methods.

Before beginning the application, a project host must be agreed upon. The host statement has the same deadline as the rest of the application: 30 June 2022.

How to Apply for the MSIF Du Pré Grant

Complete the online application form.
At the conclusion of the application, the Host must offer a supporting statement.
Include the names and contact information of two references, one of whom should be the applicant’s current supervisor or employer.
Request that each of your two references provide a letter of recommendation to [email protected] before the deadline.
Once the Applicant has filed their application, the host supporting statement is completed. The recommended host will subsequently get an email with instructions to complete the supporting statement in the application form using just text.
