Professor Ovaborhene Idamoyibo, a Delta State University professor abducted by gunmen on April 9th, died one day after regaining his freedom from his kidnappers.

According to reports, the kidnappers, who had originally demanded a ransom of N50 million, eventually settled for N3 million, which was paid by the lecturer’s family. The professor was believed to have been thrown unconscious on a lonely bridge in Abraka around midnight on Easter Sunday.
Passers-by discovered his almost dead corpse and took him to the Dunflox Hospital in Abraka for first-aid treatment to stabilize him. On Easter Monday, he was referred to the DELSU Teaching Hospital in Oghara, where it was discovered that his condition had worsened.

He is said to have died on the way to the hospital before doctors at Delta State Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH) confirmed him dead.
