Jakes Gerwel Fellowship for Undergraduate Students in South Africa 2022
The Jakes Gerwel Fellowship for undergraduate students in the 2022/23 session is being offered by the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation.
Jakes Gerwel Fellowship is a full-fledged university fellowship that includes significant mentorship and leadership development for outstanding students with an interest in teaching and education. Expert teachers who embrace innovation and can lead the type of change that our educational system so sorely needs are at the core of what we do. In short, they want to make the strongest case possible for our finest students to become our best future teachers by providing the most assistance imaginable.
Jakes Gerwel Fellowship was established in 2017 and is entirely sponsored by the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Endowment. The Academic of Cape Town or the University of Pretoria are where its recipients begin their university education. A Bachelor of Arts, Science, or Commerce is one of the supported degree streams. Students benefit from a world-class Fellowship program that includes personal coaches, mentors, and professional professors, as well as optional activities, in addition to their academic studies. Students get a PGCE after finishing their three-year degree and then begin a two-year induction period in which they are placed in partner schools as newly certified teachers. Communities of practice will continue to provide ongoing support and growth.
