Call for Applications: Hebrew University Fellowship 2022 (Funded)

The Hebrew University Fellowship 2022 is now accepting applications.

Every second academic year, the European Forum at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna grant an IWM Visiting Fellowship via this collaborative fellowship program, which began in 2014.

The Institute for Human Sciences and the European Forum at the Hebrew University jointly give one six-month Visiting Fellowship to a Ph.D. candidate or faculty member at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Worth of Scholarship

The Visiting Fellow will be invited to spend a six-month term at the IWM in Vienna between September 2022 and June 2023 to pursue a research topic while working in residence as a member of the Institute’s worldwide, diverse intellectual community.

Senior fellows will be paid €22,000, while junior fellows will be paid €11,000 to cover housing, living costs, transport, health insurance, and other miscellaneous expenditures during their time at the Institute.

In Vienna, the IWM will also offer an office, Internet access, in-house research facilities, and other necessary research tools.

The IWM will also serve lunch five days a week. If the selected fellow is not a member of the faculty or a student in one of the European Forum’s teaching programs, her or his department shall co-sponsor 25% of the stipend (€5,500, vs. € 2,750).

Requirements for the Hebrew University Fellowship

  • Ph.D. candidates or faculty members in any subject of the humanities and social sciences are eligible to apply for a fellowship.
  • The research interests of the applicants relate to the IWM’s key study topics.

  • the application form
  • a brief study proposal (max. 4 pages, double spaced, A4) abstract (70 words)
  • a curriculum vitae and a photocopy of your passport
  • two academic references (scholars who are acquainted with the applicant’s work).
