The Harvard Lead Fellowship for Promoting Women in Global Health 2022 is now accepting applications.

In order to equip and empower more global health leaders, the Harvard Global Health Institute and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health have collaborated to offer a transformational fellowship specifically designed to promote leadership skills in individuals from low- and middle-income countries who will, in turn, mentor future female global health leaders.

Harvard LEAD Fellows will receive access to world-class academics, senior mentors, and the ability to create a tailored curriculum that is aligned with their personal development and leadership goals. LEAD fellows participate in a customized leadership training curriculum, speaking and networking opportunities, and autonomous project work based on their individual interests and leadership ambitions. The fellowship provides a once-in-a-lifetime chance to develop a worldwide network of peers and ties throughout Harvard University’s colleges and departments. The fellowship program allows global health experts to reflect, re-calibrate, and go into unexplored territory.

Fellowship Experience

A Harvard LEAD fellowship provides a life-changing opportunity for rising leaders in global health to be empowered and promoted. The fellowship is a highly individualized program that is geared to each of our Fellows’ individual aims and desires. Fellows will receive access to world-class instructors, seminars, and executive education programs throughout the course of a year, which will inspire and push them in new and innovative ways.

Benefits

During the spring semester of 2023, fellows will be paid a stipend for their time in residence (January through May).
The scholarship also covers visa expenses, housing costs, flights to and from Cambridge, MA, and all course fees.

Harvard Lead Fellowship | Eligibility Criteria

Applicants from all continents, areas, disciplines, industries, genders, and gender identities are encouraged to apply. Candidates apply for the fellowship and nominate themselves. There are no age restrictions or academic requirements.

Applicants must be employed full-time in the area of global health and have a minimum of 15 years of experience. Professional experience does not include work done as a university student in the field of global health.
Applicants must have a track record of success as a leader.
Applicants must have their employer’s complete support and an internal mentor who acts as an advocate in their workplace.
During the spring full curriculum semester, applicants must take a leave of absence (or equivalent) from their home university.
Applicants must be eligible to secure a J-1 visa for travel to the United States in the spring of 2023 and live in Cambridge, Massachusetts from January to May of that year. NOTE: The fellowship will cover visas, lodging, and flights, as well as a living stipend for the months spent in residence.
The fellows should not have taken part in a full-time fellowship lasting more than four months in the two years before their enrollment at Harvard.
