The Goi Peace Foundation International Essay Contest for Young People 2022 is now accepting applications.

The goal of this yearly essay contest is to tap into the enthusiasm, creativity, and initiative of the world’s young in order to promote a culture of peace and sustainable development.

It also aspires to motivate society to learn from young people and consider how each of us may make a difference in the world.

The topic for 2022 is “My Values“– Our values influence how we think and act, as well as the society in which we live. What are the values that are important to you? How can you best conduct your life in accordance with those ideals, and what sort of society do you aim to create as a result?

Awards

In the Children’s and Youth’s categories, the following prizes will be presented:

  • 1st Prize: Certificate, the prize of 100,000 Yen (approx. US$840 as of Feb. 2022) and gift
  • 2nd Prize: Certificate, the prize of 50,000 Yen (approx. US$420 as of Feb. 2022) and gift
  • 3rd Prize: Certificate and gift
  • Certificate and gift for honorable mention

Goi Peace Foundation International Essay Contest | Eligibility Criteria

Anyone under the age of 25 (as of June 15, 2022) may submit an essay in one of the following age categories:

Children are the future (ages up to 14)

Youth (15–25 years old)

  • In English or French, essays must be 700 words or fewer, and in Japanese, they must be 1600 characters or less. Your name and essay title must be entered at the top of the first page of your essay.

  • There are no specific formatting guidelines (font style, size, line space, etc.). Essays, on the other hand, must be submitted in MS Word (DOC/DOCX) or PDF format. Your essay must also be under 2MB in size.
  • Original and previously unpublished essays are required. Entries that are plagiarized will be disqualified.
  • Essays must be authored by a single individual. Essays written in collaboration with others will not be accepted.

How to Apply for the Goi Peace Foundation International Essay Contest

To submit your essay through the internet, go to the online registration page and complete the necessary steps. Entries sent by mail or e-mail will not be accepted.
