Future Rural Africa Female Researchers Grant is currently accepting applications from eligible candidates for the year 2022.

The funds are designed to support female scientists at all stages of their careers. Creative scientific concepts that suit the Collaborative Research Center’s (CRC) topic in the widest sense but are not yet covered are provided support.

Applications from all related sciences are accepted here. The awards are intended to help female scholars acquire greater attention, grow their networks, and develop their skills.

The CRC investigates new challenges of social-ecological change and future-making in Africa, commencing with social-ecological transformation in rural Africa. In three key countries: Kenya, Namibia, and Tanzania, these reforms concentrate on conservation, intensification, and infrastructure. Social-ecological transition is researched from a variety of perspectives as a representation of “future-making.”

Grant:

The amount of the grant is €5,000 Euro each. Depending on the needs, the grant is awarded to one female scientist each or split among several applicants.
The money may be used for research-related expenses, but not for living costs. It may be spent on travel expenses, consumables, fees and assistance or services. All expenditures are first reviewed for funding eligibility by the Department of Research Management at the University of Cologne. The research project must take place this year as all receipts must be submitted by early December 2022.

Future Rural Africa Female Researchers Grant Eligibility

Female master’s students, PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and junior professors who are members of or linked with the Collaborative Research Center “Future Rural Africa” are eligible to apply.
Scientists from the CRC’s African partner nations are especially invited to apply.

How to Apply for Future Rural Africa Female Researchers Grant

Candidates must include a description of the research idea and its implementation (about 2 pages), a description of the required funds and a CV of the applicant.
