Funza Lushaka Bursary Programme for young South Africans – 2022

The DBE has begun accepting applications for the Funza Lushaka bursary, which will be awarded in 2022. Existing/Returning Bursar re-applications are due on November 29, 2021.

Bursary Program for Funza Lushaka Scholars Bachelor’s degree research

The following:

  • A four-year Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree
  • Educators in the Foundation, Intermediate, and Advanced Education and Training Phases (Grade 7-12).
  • Studies at the university level
  • Students who have completed a master’s degree in education
  • Degrees indicate the successful completion of two modules/courses, one at the third-year level and the other at the second-year level, where one priority topic was successfully finished or studied.

N.B. The Funza Lushaka Bursary Scheme will only support the PGCE for Senior Phase and Further Education and Training Teaching (SPFET) (Grade 7-12).

Requirement for the Funza Lushaka Bursary Programme -2022

The following are the criteria used in the selection process:

Only South African residents with a valid South African ID number are eligible for the bursary.

  • The candidate must be academically qualified.
  • The Funza Lushaka Bursary is open to those under the age of 30.
  • Funza Lushaka bursaries may not be given to workers of Higher Education Institutions, their spouses, or their dependents/children.
  • This bursary does not support long-term programs.
  • An authorized B.Ed. degree or PGCE program in two or more of the priority subject areas is required of the candidate.
  • The candidate must be academically qualified.

As a result, the candidate must demonstrate their dedication to working with youth, as well as their excitement for a professional teaching career and their ability to meet and overcome tough obstacles with honesty.

It is essential that the candidate be dedicated to teaching in any school where a student may be assigned by the province’s department of education (PED).

How to apply for the Funza Lushaka Bursary Programme

It’s easy to apply for the Funza Lushaka Bursary if you just follow these nine simple steps:

NOTE: To be eligible for the Funza Lushaka Bursary, candidates must be 30 years of age or younger.

  1. Go to, the e-Gov site.
  2. To register, you must first fill out a form with your contact information.
  3. Username and password established during registration are required to access the system.
  4. Select the Funza Lushaka Bursary Scheme from the e-Services Menu.
  5. Enter the One-Time Password (OTP) you got through your chosen communication channel.
  6. Agree to the conditions of use.
  7. Click the 2022 application button on the dashboard’s menu.
  8. Once you’ve completed Step 8, you’ll be able to submit your application.
  9. The declaration confirms the information that has been collected, therefore accept it.
