FPCC Youth Empowered Speakers Program

The YES program offers training, paid internships, and financial assistance to help you further your studies. In addition to mentor-apprentice language study, it offers a living allowance. The program’s purpose is for youngsters to learn their native language while preparing for one of two professional paths in language revitalization:

Along with their studies, ECE students may enroll in the Early Childhood Immersion Educator Stream.

Along with their studies, BEd. students may participate in the Language Immersion Teacher Stream.

FPCC Youth Empowered Speakers Program | Eligibility Criteria

  • Youth between the ages of 18 and 30 who are members of a First Nations community in British Columbia are eligible to apply. To be qualified, you do not have to live in your community (on reserve); urban candidates are also eligible.
  • Early Childhood Immersion Educator Stream: Applicants must apply for and be accepted into an Early Childhood Education (ECE) program, or be presently enrolled in one. This curriculum runs concurrently with the student’s ECE courses.
  • Language Immersion Teacher Stream: Applicants must apply for and be accepted into a Bachelor of Education (BEd) program, or be presently enrolled in one. This program runs concurrently with the student’s BEd studies.

Deadline for applications: April 25, 2022. The project term is from July 1, 2022 – to April 30, 2023.
