EMERGING Mediterranean Program

The EMERGING Mediterranean is an acceleration program for entrepreneurs engaged in e-health, mobility, agritech, environment, edtech, social and solidarity economy, or female entrepreneurship from the Mediterranean’s southern shores — Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya.

EMERGING Mediterranean is a comprehensive program that combines financial assistance, educational assistance, networking, and exposure, with several benefits for entrepreneurs:

Benefits

After a call for applications, thirty companies will be chosen to participate in a 72-hour hybrid Bootcamp conducted by a Southern Shore nation, where they will get rigorous training and customized mentoring.

This Bootcamp will also kick off a pitch competition, from which six winners will be picked (1 winner per nation and 1 winner for the Women Entrepreneurship Award), each receiving a high-value coaching package.

The following items are included in this package:

  • A 5,000-euro grant is available.
  • Individual mentorship sessions provide personalized technical help.
  • A major public relations drive, as well as media assistance.
  • Integration into the Social & Inclusive Business Camp acceleration program (3 months of pedagogical assistance from industry professionals, culminating in a Bootcamp in Marseille and a speed-pitching day in front of an investor panel).
  • Transportation and lodging in Marseille for the biennial EMERGING Valley Summit.
  • Full access to the EMERGING Valley Summit, which will feature the laureates’ initiatives.

Requirements for the EMERGING Mediterranean Program | Eligibility Criteria

Any project leader who meets the following criteria is eligible to apply for the program, which is free of charge.

  • be at least 18 years old;
  • having a firm that has been in operation for more than 18 months and is based in one of the EMERGING Mediterranean Program’s five (5) countries (Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, and Tunisia);
  • Have a project that relates to one of the following :
  • E-health
  • Environment
  • Agritech
  • Edtech
  • Mobility
  • Social and Solidarity Economy
  • Master the French or English language and agree to communicate in one of these two languages throughout the Program’s many activities;
  • Not be a previous edition’s EMERGING Mediterranean Laureate.

Selection Criteria

The thirty (30) applicants who will attend the Bootcamp of the Shores and compete for the prizes package are chosen based on five (5) broad criteria, which are assessed on a five-level scale (1 being the lowest score and 5 being the highest):

Presentation of the application file: The application file should be presented in a way that is thorough, cohesive, and easy to read by someone who is unfamiliar with the project. An internet presence confirming the applicant’s existence would be advantageous.

Status of the solution: The solution (product, service) has progressed beyond the ideation stage and has been significantly developed or has a functioning prototype. It’s a bonus if there’s a plan for the next approach.

Business model: Existence of a well-defined and well-executed business model that has produced money or is gaining momentum. It would be advantageous if you have a stable customer portfolio.

Team: Relevant personnel has been recruited, and the team is capable of moving the project forward.

Tech for Good Innovation: The solution must be novel, have measurable social and/or environmental effects, and contribute to a positive Mediterranean vision.
