DFC/USADF African Small Business Catalyst Program: The African Small Business Catalyst (ASBC) Program 2022 is now accepting applications.

The African Small Business Catalyst (ASBC) is a program developed by the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) to support early growth-stage small and medium companies (SMEs) in Sub-Saharan Africa.

ASBC is a business accelerator that provides loans ranging from $100,000 to $1 million to SMEs, as well as technical assistance (TA) and grants of up to $100,000. ASBC focuses on SMEs in Sub-Saharan African nations in agriculture, food security, healthcare, and education, as well as water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), with a specific emphasis on SMEs that address climate catastrophe and gender equality concerns via their activities.

ASBC helps its partners grow their business models, increase their managerial abilities, expand their market reach, and deepen their impact by providing capital/grants, mentorship, training, and technical assistance.

DFC/USADF African Small Business Catalyst Program | Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to Sub-Saharan African SMEs working in agricultural and food security, education, healthcare, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). Climate and gender-related SMEs will be given special consideration.
  • Ventures must be for-profit, registered locally, and 75% African-owned.
  • Ideal applicants are ambitious, full-time management teams with a clear vision that are determined to develop their business and enhance their social impact.
  • Businesses must have been in existence for at least two years and be revenue positive with a scalable product/service.
