The Admission Requirements into The Abia State University (ABSU);

If you are seeking admission into the Abia State University (ABSU).

It will be proper you know what are the university requirements for a particular area of study.

However, we have gathered the official requirements needed from the applicant to gain admission into the Abia State University (ABSU).

Here are the admission requirements for new students seeking admission into the Abia State University (ABSU);

  • You must possess SSCE or its equivalents with Credit in 5 subjects including Maths and English (not more than two sittings).
  • Must have score 180 and above in just recently concluded JAMB or a Diploma, NCE with at least lower credit.

Here are the admission requirements for direct entry (level 200) into Abia State University.

  • You must possess SSCE or its equivalent with Credit in 5 subjects including Maths and English (not more than two sittings).
  • Have completed your National Diploma or NCE from accredited polytechnic or college with at least an upper credit.
  • Must have applied for direct entry with Jamb.

Moreover, you are also expected to know that the Jamb score and SSCE or its equivalent credit differ among departments and faculties.

The Admission Requirements for Postgraduates School in the Abia State University (ABSU)

If you are looking forward to a postgraduate degree, either Master’s, postgraduate diploma, or a doctorate.

The Abia State University (ABSU) has certain requirements for applicants seeking admission into this area of study.

However, here are the general requirements for admission into the Abia State University (ABSU) postgraduate schools;

  • You must have possessed O’ level results with at least 5 credits in Maths and English and three other subjects.
  • Candidates applying for masters degree programmes must obtain at least second class lower division in the relevant discipline.
  • Prospective candidates for Ph.D. programmes must obtain a minimum average score of 60% in their Master’s degree.
  • Candidates seeking admission into the Postgraduate Diploma programme must possess a University degree with a minimum grade of a third class, or HND grade with a minimum of  Lower Credit.
  • Candidates are also advised to prepare for an oral screening or interview as well as a written examination.

Duration of ABSU Postgraduate Programmes.

Postgraduate Diploma Programmes

  1. Full-Time Diploma: Minimum of three semesters and a maximum of six semesters
  2. Part-Time Diploma: Minimum of four semesters and a maximum of eight semesters.

Masters Degree Programmes

  1. Full-Time: A minimum of three semesters and a maximum of ten semesters
  2. Part-Time: A minimum of four semesters and a maximum of eight semesters.

MPhil/Ph.D. Programmes

  1. Full-Time: A minimum of six semesters and a maximum of ten semesters
  2. Part-Time: A minimum of eight semesters and a maximum of six semesters.

Ph.D. Programme

  1. Full-Time: Minimum of four semesters and a maximum of ten semesters
  2. Part-Time: A minimum of six semesters and a maximum of fourteen semesters.
