Chinese Government Scholarship Belt and Road Program at Wuhan University 2022

For the academic year 2022/2023, the Chinese government scholarship is accepting applications for the Belt and Road Program for excellent international students wishing to pursue graduate studies in China.

Wuhan University is one of the prominent universities selected to participate in this program, which is designed to attract graduate students for Master’s and Doctoral programs in Geospatial Information Technology, Software Engineering, and Hydraulic Engineering.

Wuhan Institution is a significant university under the supervision of the People’s Republic of China’s Ministry of Education. It is known as “the road going to nine provinces” and is located in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province.

Chinese Government Scholarship Belt and Road Program | Eligibility Criteria

  • Non-Chinese nationals from Belt and Road nations who are full-time Master’s program candidates and in excellent health.
  • Applicants for a master’s degree must be under the age of 35 and hold a bachelor’s degree.
  • Applicants pursuing a PhD degree must be under the age of 40 and hold a Master’s degree.
  • When applying for Chinese-medium programs, applicants must have at least an HSK level four certificate (Chinese Proficiency Test). Applicants who have achieved HSK level five or above can apply straight for the major study; those who have not achieved HSK level five can apply to undergo Chinese language training courses for a year and then continue on to their degree studies after they have met the criteria.
  • Applicants whose native language is Chinese or who can show documentation of studying at a prior institution where the teaching language is Chinese can request a waiver of the HSK test for Wuhan University’s further approval.
  • Applicants for English-medium programs must submit English Language Test score reports. IELTS demands 5.5, whereas TOEFL requires 80. Those who cannot give the above-mentioned standard English test results but can show proof of studying at a prior institution where the teaching language is English will be needed to take an extraoral or written English exam administered by Wuhan University.
  • Applicants who are native English speakers may be excluded from producing the aforesaid English competency certificate.
  • Applicants who have been unsuccessful in obtaining other new student awards.

How to Apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship Belt and Road Program

  • To begin, go to the CSC Online Application System for International Students and register and submit your online application. Wuhan University’s code is 10486. Please choose Program Type B, which refers to scholarship programs administered by Chinese institutions and funded by the Chinese government. After completing the form, please download and print a physical copy of the “Application Form for the Chinese Government Scholarship.”
  • Then, go to Wuhan University’s Online Application System for International Students and register and submit your application. Please choose a funding source — Chinese Government Scholarship Program — and submit the completed “Application Form for International Scholars and Students of Wuhan University” online together with the following application documents:
  • Scholarship Application Form for the Chinese Government (written in Chinese or English).
  • Wuhan University’s International Scholars and Students Application Form (written in Chinese or English).
  • Notarized highest diploma (degree certificate) and transcripts (original and copy, issued directly by your school/university or by a public notary office with an official stamp). An official pre-graduation certificate, transcript, and on-school performance certificate issued by your present school should be submitted by prospective diploma holders. The pre-graduation certificate should show not only your present student status but also your anticipated degree and graduation date. Notarized Chinese or English translations should be attached to documents in languages other than Chinese or English. (Master’s programs require a bachelor’s degree, and doctorate programs require a master’s degree.)
  • Within 800 words, write a study plan in Chinese or English.
  • Two letters of recommendation, in Chinese or English, from professors or associate professors.
  • a scanned copy of a current regular passport (personal information page, the validity of the passport should be at least until Dec. 31, 2021).
  • Download a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form, which may be filled out in English or Chinese.
  • Please arrange your physical examination schedule carefully, as the results are only valid for six months. Please save the original copy of the school registration form.
  • If you want to apply for the Chinese-medium program, you’ll need a valid HSK certificate. For English-medium programs, a valid English level certificate is required (e. g TOEFL or IELTS).
  • Acceptance letter from a Wuhan University professor (if available).
