The Africa Health Research Institute/UCL MSc Scholarship 2022-2023 is currently accepting applications.

Africa Health Research Institute/UCL MSc Scholarship

This is a one-time award for the academic year September 2022 to September 2023 in the United Kingdom.

The Division of Infection and Immunity at UCL is funding it.

The award is managed by AHRI and is open to candidates with academic backgrounds and interests that are compatible with AHRI’s research activities.

Applicants must be permanent residents of South Africa to be considered for this position.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have a strong academic record.

Scholarship

The scholarship will cover the following:

  • Fees for a one-year full-time taught master’s degree at UCL.
  • A round-trip economy flight to and from the United Kingdom.
  • For 50 weeks, a monthly stipend to cover housing and living expenses.
  • Surcharges for the National Health Service (NHS) and Tier 4 immigration fees.

Africa Health Research Institute/UCL MSc Scholarship Requirements

Candidate name:

  • At the time of application, you must be permanently based in South Africa.
  • At the time of application, you must have a valid passport.
  • An Honours degree equivalent to a Bachelor (Honours) degree with Second Class Division 1 Honours or a 70% in a relevant topic is required.
  • The selected candidate must be in London by September 2022 to begin their chosen programme.

Women are particularly encouraged to apply.

Application for Africa Health Research Institute/UCL MSc Scholarship

Application form guidelines:

  • Personal statement: You will be asked to write a “Personal statement” that expresses your motives and appropriateness for the program to which you are applying. The personal statement is limited to 1000 words.
  • Two referees’ information: At least one of your recommendations must be an academic who has taught you at the college or university level. You may substitute one professional reference for the second academic reference if you choose. Make sure your selected referees are aware that they will be asked to offer a reference for you and are willing to do so. Use an academic or professional email address rather than a personal one when submitting your referee’s email address, such as [email protected] rather than [email protected].
  • The title of the MSc program at UCL that you want to take: A selection of UCL Masters courses linked to AHRI’s research topics may be seen below. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Paediatrics and Child Health: Global Child Health MSc
  • Population Health MSc (USA, Japan, Europe)
  • Prenatal Genetics and Foetal Medicine MSc
  • Reproductive Science and Women’s Health MSc
  • Applied Infectious Disease Epidemiology
  • Women’s Health MSc

Candidates will compete in a round of selection at AHRI, with the winning applicant being recommended to proceed to the UCL selection.

The AHRI nominee will be helped through the application procedure for admittance into an MSc-taught program.
